On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and silky smooth, with ripe dark fruit, lovely spice and a refined hint of oak. The long finish is supported by fresh, slightly menthol-like notes.

Barrel ageing

The Gatefer cuvée is aged in oak barrels, which adds extra complexity, structure and notes of toast, cocoa and vanilla without overpowering the fruit.
