The estate: TerraMater is a Chilean family-run business with vineyards in Curicó, Maipo and the Maule Valley, amongst other locations. The estate was founded in 1996 by sisters Edda, Gilda and Antonieta Canepa, who come from a family with Italian roots.

Deep red in colour. On the nose, ripe black cherries, dark plums, blackcurrants and herbs, with hints of cardamom, black tea, mint and a slight green herbaceous note. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, juicy and well-structured, with fresh acidity and firm yet pleasant tannins.

For the Vineyard Reserve Merlot, approximately 25 per cent of the wine is aged in wooden barrels for 6 months. This ensures the fruit remains the focal point whilst giving the wine a subtle hint of wood and spice.

It pairs very well with pork, poultry, veal, beef, grilled meat, pasta with meat sauce and soft to semi-hard cheeses. For the 2021 vintage, pork and poultry are specifically recommended.

A supple and characterful Chilean Merlot from the Curicó Valley. Aromas of ripe black cherries, plums and dark fruit are complemented by delicate spicy notes. Juicy and beautifully structured on the palate, with fresh acidity and pleasant tannins. An approachable, fruit-forward red wine that pairs excellently with poultry, pork, veal and grilled dishes.
